Ein dritter Ort, der mit den Herausforderungen und Problemen unserer Zeit umzugehen weiß
Wir haben eine Vision: Das Kiosk Kollektiv. Denn der Kiosk ist ein kleines, räumliches Wunder. Er ist Auge und Ohr der Stadtgesellschaft zugleich und passt sich den Trends, Problemen und Herausforderungen der Bewohner:innen im Eiltempo an. Das macht ihn zu einem aktiven Stadtmacher!
Diese Arbeit soll entstigmatisieren, Menschen ermutigen und dazu beitragen, dass sich die bestehende Kiosk-Kultur miteinander vernetzt. Denn Kiosk Kollektive haben das Potential Antworten auf den demografischen Wandel, die zunehmende Migration, eine feministische Stadt und weitere Herausforderungen unserer Zeit zu finden. Durch eine einjährige Auseinandersetzung und die intensive Analyse des Büdchens an der Ecke ist uns bewusst geworden, dass es sich hier um einen Potentialraum handelt, der dort handlungsaktiv wird und Verantwortung übernimmt, wo es andere Akteure nicht schaffen. Als Begegnungsort kann der Kiosk demokratiestärkend auf eine Gesellschaft von Morgen wirken. Eine Fähigkeit die wir heute wohl dringlicher brauchen denn je. Diese Arbeit zeigt erste Entwürfe eines Kiosk Kollektivs im Herzen von Aachen und wurde bereits mit dem ‘polisWERK.STADT Preis 2024’ ausgezeichnet.
We have a vision: the Kiosk Collective. The kiosk is a small spatial marvel, serving as both the eyes and ears of urban society, and adapting impressively fast to the trends, problems, and challenges faced by its residents. This makes it an active city maker!
This work aims to destigmatize the kiosk, encourage engagement, and contribute to the networking of existing kiosk culture. Kiosk collectives have the potential to find spatial answers for demographic changes, increasing migration, the concept of a feminist city, and other contemporary challenges. Through a year-long examination and an intensive analysis of a local kiosk network, we discovered that the kiosk is a space with significant potential to take action and assume responsibilities where other actors fall short. As a gathering place, the kiosk can strengthen democracy in our society of tomorrow — an ability that is more urgently needed today than ever before. This work presents the initial design of a kiosk collective in the heart of Aachen and was honored with the ‘polisWERK.STADT Prize’ in 2024.
