What/Next is the blog of the journal pnd – rethinking planning. Blogs and journals are formats for reflecting on planning, developing, and operating on questions such as: In which way can public actors participate in spatial development today and in the future? What are the objectives, tasks, and opportunities for action in urban, landscape, and spatial planning? What impulses come from other actors? What are the possibilities of cooperation?
The health crisis beginning in 2020 was an occasion to further develop digital formats of joint reflection, exchange, and dissemination of knowledge and to link them anew. What/Next is a blog that offers space for discussion and joint reflection on the ongoing change as well as the associated changing tasks in our cities. The blog complements the journal pnd – rethinking planning and provides impulses for future issues.
What/Next offers contributions in various topics and formats in German and English. The blog is founded in a network of experts from science and practice. The blog is open to contributors from different disciplines, institutions, and countries. Contact us to publish expert contributions and comments, or to suggest and accompany thematic series.

Planung neu Denken was started in 2005/2006 with three book publications by Klaus Selle and has been continued online since 2006. 34 issues of the online journal have highlighted a wide range of topics and processes in urban development and have given access and context to the knowledge of a large number of researchers and practitioners.

What/Next ist der Blog zur Zeitschrift pnd – rethinking planning. Blog und Zeitschrift sind Formate des Nachdenkens über Planen, Entwickeln und Steuern, über Fragen wie: Auf welche Weise können öffentliche Akteure heute und in Zukunft an der räumlichen Entwicklung mitwirken? Was sind die Ziele, Aufgaben und Handlungsmöglichkeiten der Stadt-, Landschafts- und Raumplanung? Welche Impulse gehen von anderen Akteuren aus? Welche Chancen haben Kooperationen?
Die Krise im Jahr 2020 war ein Anlass, um digitale Formate des gemeinsamen Nachdenkens, des Austauschs und der Verbreitung von Wissen weiterzuentwickeln und neu zu verknüpfen. What/Next bietet als Blog einen Gesprächsraum, um gemeinsam über den laufenden Wandel und die damit verbundenen veränderten Aufgaben in unseren Städten zu reflektieren. Der Blog ergänzt die Fachzeitschrift pnd – rethinking planning und gibt Impulse für kommende Ausgaben.
What/Next bietet Beiträge in verschiedenen Themen und Formaten in deutscher und englischer Sprache. Der Blog entsteht in einem Netzwerk aus Fachleuten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis. Der Blog ist offen für Mitwirkende und Beitragende aus verschiedenen Disziplinen, Institutionen und Ländern. Planung neu denken wurde 2005 und 2006 mit drei Buchveröffentlichungen von Klaus Selle gestartet und seit 2006 online fortgesetzt. 34 Ausgaben der Online-Zeitschrift haben vielfältige Themen und Prozesse der Stadtentwicklung beleuchtet und das Wissen einer Vielzahl von Forscher*innen und Praktiker*innen zur Verfügung gestellt und vernetzt.
